Q & A

Q. What can I do about the flaking in my hair?

You may want to start off by trying PARNEVU T-Tree Shampoo. If this is not enough, you could try a dandruff shampoo used as directed, followed by an application of PARNEVU T-Tree Shampoo. However, most of what people think of as “dandruff” is actually a skin sloughing caused by lack of B complex vitamins. Eat more green veggies and see what happens. Dandruff is smelly. Have someone smell your scalp. If it does not smell you have another problem. If you have naturally dry scalp, try an application of PARNEVU T-Tree Scalp Oil or PARNEVU Scalp Therapy every morning. Needless to say, no shampoo will cure a medical skin condition, such as eczema or psoriasis. If you suspect this is the cause, consult your doctor or a dermatologist.

Q: How often should I wash my hair?

How often depends on three main factors: preference, hair type, and activity level. In general, there is almost no reason for anyone to shampoo every day, with 3 to 4 times per week benefiting most people. Hair that is longer, thicker, curlier, or more processed can go longest between washes. Try PARNEVU T-Tree Shampoo as a regular shampoo to cleanse hair & scalp and PARNEVU Extra Dry Salon Shampoo as a clarifying shampoo to remove product buildup.

Q. Is there a correct way to shampoo my hair?

Yes. To cleanse and stimulate your scalp, use your fingertips, not your fingernails. The less you manipulate your scalp while your hair is wet, the less damage you cause to your hair. Water swells and temporarily weakens hair. Gentle handling is important to maintaining healthy hair. After washing, blot hair, don't rub hair dry with a towel. Comb hair with a wide-tooth comb, holding sections of hair to gently comb through tangles.

Q. Is there a correct way to condition my hair?

Yes. For optimum results, the idea is to leave the appropriate amount of conditioner on your hair (more for thick, heavy hair; less for fine or limp hair). The average time it takes for a regular-use conditioner (such as PARNEVU Extra Dry After Shampoo Conditioner) to work is 30-45 seconds, but thorough rinsing may take longer. Hair should not feel squeaky-clean. It should feel slick. Rinse hair with warm (not hot) water flowing in the direction of your cuticle, not against it. In other words, hold your head back so the water flows from your forehead towards your back.

Q. Why should I use a leave-in conditioner?

Not everyone needs to use a leave-in conditioner; using a rinse-out conditioner may be sufficient. However, hair types that tend to be dry, frizzy, or susceptible to breakage will see an added benefit to adding a leave-in conditioner to their daily routine. Try PARNEVU T-Tree Leave-In Conditioner to keep hair & scalp clean and moisturized.

Q. Is it safe to leave a conditioner in overnight?

Leaving conditioner on overnight will not increase its conditioning power. Moisture swells hair and while it is swollen, it is fragile. In other words, some strands can break while you sleep. Read and follow the recommended application time on each product’s label. For deep conditioning, try PARNEVU Hair Mayonnaise with maximum results achieved within just 10 minutes.

Q. How should I best protect my hair when having it braided?

Prior to braiding your hair, you should shampoo and deep condition. Braided hair should be regularly washed, to prevent buildup, and moisturized, to prevent breakage; leave-in conditioners are a great option for braid maintenance, and will not harm the hair if left in during braiding. Try PARNEVU T-Tree Braid Spray to help keep your scalp feeling fresh and hair moisturized.

Q. How do I get my hair to shine?

Hair appears dull because it absorbs light, as opposed to reflecting it. Conditioners seal the cuticular openings, encouraging light reflection. For added shine, try a glosser, such as PARNEVU T-Tree Glosser (available in a spray or cream formula).

Q. Should I be oiling my scalp?

Even if you have dry hair, you may not have a dry scalp, in which case, oiling your scalp is not necessary. If your scalp tends to be dry, oiling it regularly (as needed) will help decrease scalp itch, flaking, and tightness. Try PARNEVU T-Tree Scalp Oil to help stimulate, heal, and repair hair and scalp.

Q. How can I prevent split-ends?

Your hair strands split because they have dried out. Condition regularly and if split-ends continue to occur, sleep on a satin pillowcases (other materials suck moisture from hair strands) and keep the air in your home moist with a humidifier. Anti-breakage products, such as PARNEVU T-Tree Break Control, will lock in moisture and add elasticity.

Q. Why is my hair gel causing flakes?

You may just be using too much or not distributing it evenly, or you have product buildup already, in which case you will may need a clarifying shampoo (try PARNEVU Extra Dry Salon Shampoo). You may also just need to switch, in which case we suggest you try PARNEVU Shining Gel - it leaves hair manageable and full of body with extra sheen, without the flaking.

Q. Why is my hair becoming weak and damaged?

Gradual thinning and weakening of the hair is a normal part of aging, although it is amplified by over styling (chemical-processing, regular use of heat styling tools, etc.) as well as environmental factors (such as air pollution). Hair must be cared for at any stage of life, but even more so as we age. Try one of our many products, such as: PARNEVU  Extra Dry Hair Mayonnaise for intense rejuvenating therapy, PARNEVU Extra Dry Carrot Oil to promote hair growth and strength, and PARNEVU T-Tree Growth Crème to restore scalp health.

Q. How long should I wait before touching-up or re-applying a relaxer?

Each person’s hair grows at different rates, which is typically every 6 to 8 weeks. You should also only use relaxer on healthy, undamaged hair & scalp. When relaxing your hair, you must avoid any overlapping of the chemical onto the previously relaxed hair. The previously relaxed hair doesn't need to be relaxed again. The relaxer should be applied to the new growth area only – doing otherwise will definitely lead to breakage. Also be aware that when re-perming your hair, different products have very different chemical formulations which may not be compatible with each other. If they are not compatible you could end up seriously damaging your hair and causing severe breakage. Stick with the same relaxer. We suggest PARNEVU T-Tree No-Lye Conditioning Relaxer System in Regular or Super formula.

Q. Why does my hair seem a lot dryer after coloring it?

For every level of color that you want to go lighter than your natural shade, the dryer hair tends to become, meaning that when you go from darker to lighter, it's an absolute must that you deep condition your hair on a regular basis. Try using a leave-in conditioner each time you wash your hair (such as PARNEVU Extra Dry Leave-In Conditioner in Regular or Extra Dry formula) as well as PARNEVU Hair Mayonnaise on a monthly basis.
